I spent a fortune on this TV, and was wondering if the PC hooked up to the TV with a VGA cable would affect the health of the TV or anything, or just be bad for it?

It will not harm the TV at all. Remember that VGA is an analog signal so it will not be in HD (if your video card is even capable of producing HD). You may have to adjust the resolution of your computer to match the TV set.
