This review is from: LG 60PZ550 60-Inch 1080p 600Hz Active 3D Plasma HDTV with Internet Applications (Electronics) Over the years, I’ve done reviews and have studied prior to purchasing. I did no different on this LG 60PZ550. I looked at nearly all brands of PLASMA TVs and finally fell into the LG realm. My first thought was to get the biggest/best, then I started looking at the actual numbers. What was my criteria? 1) Screen Size: 60″ … but, it had to be no more than 34″ in height. 2) 3D: this isn’t really my criteria, I inherited it from my kids. 3) Thickness: I don’t want a very thick or heavy TV 4) Plasma: Sorry, I’ve owned and viewed LED/LCDs v. Plasma – for sheer 1080p experience, my perception is that Plasma always looks better. So, going through the brands, I found only LG to fit my criteria. The most important was #1, if it doesn’t fit where I need it to fit, all the bells/whistles won’t matter. I could give a hoot about 3D, but my kids insisted for their experience. We went to the big box stores and I will admit, it does look cool. I do not have the glasses yet, they are on their way (As the first reviewer mentioned, the 250′s are for this TV). Thickness, holy smokes, who wants those behemoths we had a few years ago. This is thin and fairly lightweight. Beautifully done. OK, then finally, the Plasma v. LED/LCD debate. It will go on/on/on.. it’s a matter of perception. Technically, the Plasmas have the edge; however, LED/LCDs are catching up. My personal perception is that Plasmas look MUCH better than LED/LCD. Your mileage may vary. If you do the great comparison that Amazon has towards the bottom of the product page, you’ll see this TV is stacked up against the big 2 – PZ950 and PZ750 – whats missing from the 550? THX (yea right); TruBlack Filter (err, not sure what that is); SmartTV (more apps on the TV I’ll never use because my 3D Bluray player has them); Magic Motion Remote (great, another remote that I have to point “just right” to do the menus … plus, I already have a remote that turns it on and off) … hmm … not really seeing why I would pay a premium for those features. All else is equal. So, yes, would I recommend? **ABSOLUTELY** What don’t I like about it? Nothing, I love it; however, something that might irritate people is the very reflective surface. It’s like a mirror; however, properly positioned (I have a tilt mount), it eliminates my the irritant factor. I’ve had it with lights on and off and it’s beautiful. Really, I am not using this TV to it’s true potential with all the stuff on it. I don’t use sound (it’s connected to an HDMI receiver), I don’t tune with it (U-Verse customer), I have 2 cables going to it: power and HDMI (high speed recommended … or … incorrectly labeled HDMI 1.4a). I don’t even use the internet portion. I use it as a HUGE monitor for all the stuff I do (U-Verse, Wii, PS3, Bluray) … and now 3D. UPDATE 13APR2011 – This TV most certainly has ARC (Audio Return Channel). “Definition: Audio Return Channel (ARC) ia a very practical feature that has been introduced in HDMI ver1.4. What this function allows, if both a home theater receiver and a TV have HDMI ver1.4 and offer this feature, is that you can transfer audio from the TV back to a home theater receiver and listen to your TV’s audio through your home theater audio system instead of the TV’s speakers without having to connect a second cable between the TV and home theater system.” The 60PZ550 is certainly doing this function through my receiver. I made the assumption that since I did not connect my internet to it, I wouldn’t need it. I connected my TV to the internet today to see what the functions were … typical … Netflix, Hula, Youtube… etc. I fired up a Netflix movie (which looked pretty decent) and low and behold, I have BEAUTIFUL sound coming out of my receiver. Please DISREGARD the reviewer who stated there was NO ARC. I felt the picture on my Sony was too dark…especially for playing video games on the PS3 and/or Xbox 360. I researched via google and read that a plasma TV is better for a darker environment. After hooking up the TV to the wall mount and turning it on, I was shocked at remarkable picture improvement between the plasma and my previous LCD. I feel this TV is WELL worth the money, considering it came with 2 free pair of AGS250 (current 2011 model) 3D glasses. A couple of notes: make sure you turn the contrast down to 60 or less, since the factory settings have it at 100. If you leave it at the default setting, you’ll have a problem with burn-in. I have mine set at 60/65 (contrast/brightness). You’ll notice burn-in either way if you watch a lot of sporting events as I do (IE – any programming that has a non-moving bar along the bottom…like the current score of a game), but it’s easy to get rid off by either tuning in a channel with white noise or using the TV’s built-in ISM (Image Sticking Minimization) “white wash” feature to eliminate it. Overall, I’m very satisfied with this purchase….GREAT VALUE! The Panny developed a defective section of pixels and needed to go. Anyhow, I love the aesthetics of the LG; the thin bezel is just fantastic. It is also 50% lighter than the “smaller” TV it replaced. It is a bit more glossy/reflective compared to the old Panny but I have excellent light control with some motorized blackout shades at the rear of the room. Picture quality is on par if not slightly better than the Panasonic it replaced. Note: The main viewing position is 13-ft from the screen. My system includes: * Onkyo TX-NR905 Reciever (HDMI 1.3 4-in, 1-out) * Onkyo DV-BD606 Blu-ray Player * Playstation 3 * Xbox 360 * Comcast DVR (Motorola DCX3400) With the old Panasonic hooked up, the above components all worked together in perfect harmony. 4 HDMI cables into the receiver, one HDMI cable out to the TV. Clean and simple. With the new LG hooked up, the following occurred: * Comcast playback and Onkyo Blu-ray playback are flawless. Both run though the receiver with no issues. * Xbox 360 playback, well, didn’t work. Something about the HDMI handshake running through the receiver resulted in no video playback. I tried various HDMI settings on both the Xbox and the receiver with no luck. I had to resort to Component/Optical for the Xbox to work correctly. * PS3 played fine through the receiver but it wouldn’t playback in 3D. No surprises here. The PS3 was unable to detect my TV as 3D compatible running through my “now obsolete” receiver. I needed to run a dedicated HDMI cable to the TV and revert to Optical for Audio in order for it to work. I have two pair of AG-S250 3D glasses. They look great, aren’t too heavy and seem to have great battery life. However, the biggest problems with the glasses are: 1. They emit a buzzing sound. VERY annoying. 2. One pair of glasses continues to lose sync while the other doesn’t. The quality of 3D playback isn’t great in games like Killzone 3 Demo on the PS3. I get a lot of ghosting. Playback of 3D movies (watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs last night) is better but you can still notice double images in the foreground every once and a while. If anyone has some tips to remedy I would love the feedback. The Picture Wizard was handy out of the box to get the basics set up. I’ll be using my DVE Blu-ray to calibrate/tweak the TV settings further later this week. That’s it for now. I’ll upload some photos later in the week. LG television question by Wow I can use 32 characters…..: What kind of video file do i need to play on my television?
So i just found out that i hav a usb drive on my tv.
If i had a video file in my usb pen, can i play it automatically on my tv?
or do i still hav to convert the file into something else..

This TV can hook up to you computer many different ways either by HDMI, VGA or Composite. All you need to do is look at your computer and see what style of video output it has on it then get a connector or cable from your local computer/surplus store.

I own this tv and us a DVI to HDMI connector then HDMI cable to my TV to enjoy high definition programming off my computer.

It is completely silent, cool running, amazing picture (after adjusting the settings properly) and had all of the features I wanted for a price point that couldn’t be passed up. Pros: * 3 HDMI ports * Silent even with my ear right next to the set * Rotatable stand (my wife hates being off center but her chair is far to the left so she can rotate it to face her) * Decent speakers (get loud enough but nothing mind blowing but not bad either) * NO BLUE LEDs, infact when the set is on NO LEDs are on at all. Just a small red one for standby which turns off when the set turns on * Loads of advanced settings available without having to enter into locked service menus. * Picture is bright in my opinion (not LED TV bright but more than enough for my needs) * Price (paid 6 c-notes during Fry’s easter deal) * Super fast response time (no lag at all in any games) * No real burn-in issues even with games being played (after the first 100hr burn-in time where static images were avoided). * After calibration great rich blacks. Neither here nor there: * Touch sensitive buttons on front panel (cool as hell but can be a bit annoying trying to hit a button in the dark). * USB video and pictures (don’t really use this at all) Cons: * No bells and whistles (not a con for me but maybe for others). * Like any shiny TV glare is an issue. * Settings out of the box leave something to be desired at best. * Not 3D (once again I didn’t want this but for others this maybe a con). Now with all of that said, if you don’t use a good advanced calibration profile this TV can be pretty off on the picture at points (whites a bit yellow, over saturation on certain colors, dim screen etc.). I used the calibration settings posted by blacknoir at the avsforum and then did the picture wizard to tweak it a bit further and the difference is nothing short of incredible. Crisp whites, excellent contrast, skin is the proper color, etc. This set became by far the most natural looking set I have seen in a long time. Now mind you this natural looking set wouldn’t sell in stores next to the heavily over exposed settings they use to catch your eye. It wouldn’t help if I talked about all of this without posting my settings for you. So here we go. If I have any comments or explanations I will post them next to the setting. Also, these will not replace the quality of a professional calibration because all panels are slightly different. That being said this will get you pretty close. Settings used: Aspect Ratio: 16:9 Energy Saving: Off Picture Mode: Expert 1 (Expert 2 is fine as well, these are just 2 slots to store an advanced profile and access the advanced settings) Contrast: 77 (will likely change after Picture Wizard but this is a good starting point) Brightness: 53 (will likely change after Picture Wizard but this is a good starting point) H. Sharp: 39 (will likely change after Picture Wizard but this is a good starting point) V. Sharp: 50 Color: 50 Tint: 0 Color Temp: W30 (This setting is hidden to find it, click on tint–>you will get the gray bar at the bottom of the screen to adjust tint–>press the down arrow and there it appears Now select Expert control Dynamic Contrast: Off Noise Reduction: Off Gamma: Medium Black Level: Low Film Mode: On Color Gamut: Standard Edge Enhancement: Off White Balance: Warm Method: 20 Point IRE Pattern: Outer Now comes the IRE part. This part is a bit confusing in how it is implemented. Basically, each time you select an IRE value treat the values below it as a new set of values. Why they did it this way I have no clue. Im a videophile and am a picky person when it comes to my tv’s. This is the 3rd set ive owned in 2 years. The first was an lg 1080p 55 inch, well that’s went south quick because fast moving images would become blocky so I took it back. Then I bought a 32 1080p sony LCD and it the picture looked good somtimes but most of the time it had blotchy colors and terrible shadow details no matter what setting you used, then the screen started to band (dark lines on it). Then I went to samsung LED and the back light bleed in all corners ruined movies for me the tech came to fix it and made it worst, took it back the next day. Ok so I went looking for a new plasma, which ive heard always made movies look better, and plasmas are favorites by most people who watch a lot of movies. Ive always been scared off by the burn in effect. So after a lot of research I got this one the price and picture was I was looking for. I will say this on the picky side of things for movie lover. The 16×9 black bars you see on most films with not be pitch black, they are VERY close but no matter what ya you do they will be a few shades off. They are even in color and it doesn’t bother me compared to the LCD/LED ones that are black in the middle and grey on the ends. Also this tv has some sort of Fluid motion tech built into it, much like 120 hz Lcds have it makes the motion more fluid. No plasmas don’t need this because they work differently, but LG must think people want movies to look more life like, but the fluid motion ruins movies and makes them look cheap and make the motions look too fast for their own good. My only complaint is I don’t know how to turn this feature off. I see a film mode option, but it wont let me select it?????? The image colors are rich and sharp and if you tweak them you will find what your looking for. It does have burn in protection options, no problems with any burn in, but im careful and dont leave static images on for very long. Now let me give you a heads up on ghosting/ image retention. Sometimes if you leave for ex: a dvd menu with static images on for about 5-10 minutes and then you go to a dark screen you will seen some of that menu still. DONT BE SCARED, this will go away within a minute and is normal, its just the phospers fading away and as soon as another images comes on the screen it washes all the old stuff off, it will NOT effect the pic quality. So after 2 LCDS AND 1 LED I went to plasma and am finally happy with the sturdy quality of the screen and the 600 hz the tv has to offer, no more shuttery images and back light bleed. I called the next morning, ordered the HD, flipped on ESPN and was absolutley dazzled. The picture is crisp, clear, vibrant, and just looks uttlerly amazing. I am not a big 3D fan, so the basic model was more than enough for me, and for the price, the value is amazing. Regarding glare, I have read prior reviews that this is a problem with LG tvs, I have mine in a basment with windows so there is quite a bit of light andi was worried, but much to my delight ,the is glare is very minimal. As far as the menu and adjustments they are both very easy to use, I just keep the itelligent sensor on most of the time and it provides a very accurate picture, sometimes a tad too dark, but usually its right on. Sound is also decent from what I can remeber for the first night, but I have soundbar hooked up so I havent experiences too much on that. BUY THIS TV, you will LOVE IT! I have an HP computer about 30 feet away from my lcd LG television that I would like to be able to transmit video from the computer to the television. My wife would prefer I do this without running a long cord from one to the other across the house. Any ideas?

Well It depends on what tv you have. Some of the new ones allow you to stream video to it. Otherwise, you will end up connecting something to it. Have an xbox you can do it through this or some other devices. Check to see if your computer is wifi ready.

LG television question by vaio585: How to set up Sony Vaio HDMI out display on NW265F laptop to LG television?
I have a Sony Vaio laptop with an HDMI out. Specifically its model number VGN-NW265F. I can’t seem to figure out what settings are optimal for HD output to my LG 37LG50 television. Its currently set to 1280×720 pixels for resolution, but I had to do some messing with the aspect ratio to get it to look the best on the television. With the resolution its at now, it looks MUCH better on the laptop than on the television and theres visible differences on the coloring and everything. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this. Please email me at lidepi AT gmail.com if you can help and I’ll answer any questions that might help you further. Thanks!!
Forgot to include that its an HDMI out on the computer, and is connected to an HDMI in on the TV via the proper cord.

Most reviewers had said they didn’t notice the 60HZ compared to a 120 HZ or higher, but I did…..I thought. It was noticeable when watching sports, but as soon as I changed some settings…it greatly improved. Silly me. Other than this problem…this television rocks !! The picture is phenomenal. Clear as a bell. And the sound is more like a stereo sound than I’ve had on any other TV, including having it hooked up to a surround sound system. Now, with this LG on my surround system, I can barely play it on a #10, or it’s too loud. I haven’t noticed any blasting commercials, but I had to change the “Intelligent Sensor” settings because as soon as it got dark out & in the house, the picture got way too dark for me to enjoy. It came to me set on “energy saver”, but I keep it set on “low” now & it’s fine. Finding all the “smart” features is easy too. No problems with this either, but I did not receive that special remote as I had thought I’d get, while seeing it on the “specs” part of the advertisement for this TV. Only got the regular remote. I still need to find the calculation wizard thingy on this TV. I just can’t seem to find it yet. But after adjusting the Intelligent Sensor, it really doesn’t seem to need much more adjusting. I would like to test it out however. Soon as I find it, I’ll let you know. It may be on the disk that came with the TV, but of course, just like a man…my friend has not even tried to play them yet. I guess I’ll have to do it myself when he isn’t around…ha ha. You know guys…you have to be less stubborn about these things. I can’t believe he is complaining when he doesn’t even try to play the disk !! (sorry ) Oh well…always a shortcut to everything. No surprise. Other than this…this TV is awesome. I didn’t notice much difference in the smaller size of the screen, going down to a 55″ from a 60″. And if you think the frame looks bad on this TV,just because it doesn’t have a Lucite edge like a lot of other new sets do….think again. You don’t even notice any frame on it. It’s black for goodness sake. Who sees this ? And the set itself is so thin, it nearly disappears when you walk by it. If I had it mounted on my wall…it would disappear !! I love the fact that it comes with a swivel stand. We all don’t have our seating straight in front of the TV, & this helps. I’ve compared this picture with other brands, and although I was a bit hung up on getting a Samsung…for the price, this TV is better. Samsung is getting as expensive as Sony now, and I just don’t think they’re worth it anymore either. I struggled to afford a Sony the last time I got a TV, & I had too many problems with it. I was very glad I had a service contract on it !! At least when they finally couldn’t fix the same problem it had for over 3 years, they gave up & sent me a replacement check so I could buy this LG. The first movie I watched on it, made me feel like I was in a theater & I was shocked at how great it was. Both picture & sound were very impressive !! Yes…I use a surround sound system, but it never worked this well before. If your thinking of buying this LG-55LV3700, do not hesitate. You will be very happy with it. This TV has been one of the better electronics purchases I have ever made. Picture is excellent, easy to use setup, multiple inputs (and it seems to detect the most recently powered on input so when you turn on the tv it will automatically go to the DVD/Game/whatever you just turned on) I never thought I would use the SmartTV features, but I spend more itme in there than anywhere. The ability to stream netflix, amazon, youtube, internet radio, etc directly to the TV is such an amazing feature and gets used daily. My only complaint is the volume is a little low, but I intend to fix that with add-on components. The 3D is amazing with no flicker. I use to own a Samsung with active glasses, but the flicker gave me a headache. No headaches with this TV. I’m only giving 4 stars because of the annoying 3D warning message that comes up every time I try to watch 3D. (No way to turn off in the settings). You have to press enter on the remote to get the message to go away. All in all a great TV. We ordered it Sunday night and got it on Wednesday.Right aftrwards Amazon went to “out of stock”. I would have hated to make a new decision or wait for stock to come in. I did an online chat with the LG support with a question about the remote and screen ratio and they were fast and friendly. I haven’t tried the real 3D yet and have to pick up some BluRay movies to try, I cannot review that yet. The stand is a little crooked – as if you gave the TV a little twist counter-clockwise. But no one knows this but me so not a problem. It also should include the HDMI cable for best hook up of the Blu Ray player, but I bought one separately. Tried the 2D to 3D simulation and it was awesome. Didn’t think it would be that impressive, but it really was. My “significant other” is a 3D artist and he is also thoroughly and positively impressed. I like the passive 3D feature – active 3D I did not see as a great feature – what with charging expensive glasses and don’t like the idea of the “shutter” on glasses – it just sounds like it would give one a headache! I can’t see that that will be an ongoing type of 3D television anyway. We are hooked to an antenna(our old one would have been fine, but purchased a flat one which is great because so unintrusive.) Don’t understand why anyone would waste money on cable but I guess some people have that kind of money. The hook up was easy and pain/aggravation free. We have our old vcr/dvd recorder combo hooked up as well as the new Blu Ray player. Still a little rusty on the remote and all the options available but that will work itself out. I am not concerned with not having it wifi-ready, though we could easily connect it up later. I have a large screen computer in the same room so we can always watch and do stuff on there. We went to this from a good-old analog set with converter box and antenna – obviously I don’t switch to new stuff everyday but, when I do, I do some research and get something that really is what I want! I had seen some demos of LG’s higher end LW6500 TVs with gaming systems connected showing off the 2D to 3D and the benefits of passive 3D. So I was sold, I picked up this LW5300 bundle thinking it was an excellent value and a good way to get into 3D. Now the 3D technology is great, I tested both with a game that did native 3D as well as with a regular 2D game using the TV’s 2D to 3D feature and the results were excellent. The glasses are light and comfortable and sitting down to a long game session was no problem at all, I didn’t end up with a headache. The image quality is excellent in both 2D and 3D I thought and there are plenty of customization settings to fine tune the picture to your preference. This is where the love ends though. The LW5300 doesn’t seem to be tuned for fast motion video sources running at 30-60fps, that’s the best way I can put it. There is a noticeable lag between what you do with the controller and what happens on the screen, it’s not huge lag but in fast motion like shooters where you’re trying to line up your cross-hair on a target, this produces over and under correcting problems. In Gears of War 3, doing an active reload I would hit the button to stop the slider bar and the bar continueded to move for a few milliseconds farther than were I intended it to stop. Next up I connected my laptop to the TV (I should say the laptop and console were both hooked up via HDMI inputs on the TV). I use my laptop as a DVR so I frequently use it as a video source for watching shows. When I moved my mouse around, the pointer would start moving a few milliseconds after I started moving my finger and when I stopped moving my finger, the pointer would continue to move stopping a few milliseconds later. These problems may not be that big of a deal for watching BluRay movies or watching broadcast TV. But when you have fast motion devices hooked up that rely on speed and accuracy, the LW5300 doesn’t seem to be up to the task. I’m not sure if the higher end lw6500 sets that are 240hz would be better or not, they’re a lot more money and after my experience with the LW5300, I’m not sure I want to gamble on them or not especially since I can’t find them locally to try first, I’d need to have one shipped. When I had these devices hooked up to an old 24″ monitor that is 60hz/8ms refresh times (The LW5300 beats both of those specs), I didn’t have these problems so it seems like the LW5300 image processing is just under-powered. So bottom line is if you’re a gamer looking for a passive 3D screen for your gaming setup, you should continue looking, this isn’t what you’re looking for. Possibly the LW6500 line would work better but I’m not sure I’m going to spend that much money personally on a gaming TV. On the other hand if you just want an entry level 3D TV/BluRay system, the results were excellent for that type of use and this bundle is a great value. It could be menu-driven too…have you LOOKED for it?

Samsung Vs Sony – Cutting Edge LED LCD TV Encounter

Pioneer brands have emerged with their own models but two brands appeared to be more competitive – the Samsung A950 LED LCD and the Sony XBR8 Series.

Now a hot issue let us review how both LED LCD televisions lead the home viewing entertainment market into a whole new level.

LED LCD TVs are your usual Liquid Crystal Display television with the addition of the cutting-edge LED backlighting technology. and of course, new technologies mean quite a big introductory price. But Samsung wanted to attend to the needs of a greater market so the 81F Series of LED LCD TV was their first attempt to provide a mass-market model.

The manufacturer competition grew even hotter that Samsung released their A950 series while Sony created the XBR9 series of LCD LED TVs and LG introduced their LG 47LG90. LG and Samsung models sell at around 00 for a 46 inch screen like the Samsung LN46A950 while 44 inch versions are priced at roughly 00.

Sony chose not to join the price bracket of the two brands; their 46 inch KDL-46XBR8 sells at 00 while the 55 inch version is at 00 more. This makes the Sony models appear to be exceptionally expensive than LED LCD HDTVs from other brands.

However, they differ not only in price but also the LED backlighting technology used. Although all three uses hundred of LEDs positioned behind the screen, Sony uses a three-color LED set-up while LG and Samsung use white LEDs on their screens.

Sony’s three-color LED system is coined as Sony Triluminous Technology which is powered by one blue LED and two green ones. Sony explains that such technology will improve color purity of images. This perhaps could be a reason for their more expensive price tag.

So which LED technology is better? Is it Samsung’s white light LED backlight or the three-colored technology of Sony?

Since LCD LED TV technology is technically quite new, improvements wills still be made in the years to come. Not that this isn’t the right time to buy a LED LCD TV; but if you will consider things carefully and manage to realize that your needs could be met in a less expensive model, you will see that it would be more rational to get a more affordable model.

But then again, it will all depend on your requirements of a good LED LCD HDTV. If Sony’s Triluminous technology appears to you more, and if you have the budget for it, then go buy it. But if you are considering saving your 00-3000 cash, opt to get the Samsung one and you will still get an exceptional LED LCD HDTV. After all, it is Samsung; you can be assured that you’ll get what is best.

I bought a brand new Samsung LCD Tv today and am trying to connect my old LG dvd player but it keeps saying, “no signal – check signal cable”. I have plugged the component cables into every combination but it is still not working. (I also noticed that I have one yellow and one white component – isn’t there normally a red one too?) Is it because the dvd player is too old (it’s probably only 4 years old)?

Most reviewers had said they didn’t notice the 60HZ compared to a 120 HZ or higher, but I did…..I thought. It was noticeable when watching sports, but as soon as I changed some settings…it greatly improved. Silly me. Other than this problem…this television rocks !! The picture is phenomenal. Clear as a bell. And the sound is more like a stereo sound than I’ve had on any other TV, including having it hooked up to a surround sound system. Now, with this LG on my surround system, I can barely play it on a #10, or it’s too loud. I haven’t noticed any blasting commercials, but I had to change the “Intelligent Sensor” settings because as soon as it got dark out & in the house, the picture got way too dark for me to enjoy. It came to me set on “energy saver”, but I keep it set on “low” now & it’s fine. Finding all the “smart” features is easy too. No problems with this either, but I did not receive that special remote as I had thought I’d get, while seeing it on the “specs” part of the advertisement for this TV. Only got the regular remote. I still need to find the calculation wizard thingy on this TV. I just can’t seem to find it yet. But after adjusting the Intelligent Sensor, it really doesn’t seem to need much more adjusting. I would like to test it out however. Soon as I find it, I’ll let you know. It may be on the disk that came with the TV, but of course, just like a man…my friend has not even tried to play them yet. I guess I’ll have to do it myself when he isn’t around…ha ha. You know guys…you have to be less stubborn about these things. I can’t believe he is complaining when he doesn’t even try to play the disk !! (sorry ) Oh well…always a shortcut to everything. No surprise. Other than this…this TV is awesome. I didn’t notice much difference in the smaller size of the screen, going down to a 55″ from a 60″. And if you think the frame looks bad on this TV,just because it doesn’t have a Lucite edge like a lot of other new sets do….think again. You don’t even notice any frame on it. It’s black for goodness sake. Who sees this ? And the set itself is so thin, it nearly disappears when you walk by it. If I had it mounted on my wall…it would disappear !! I love the fact that it comes with a swivel stand. We all don’t have our seating straight in front of the TV, & this helps. I’ve compared this picture with other brands, and although I was a bit hung up on getting a Samsung…for the price, this TV is better. Samsung is getting as expensive as Sony now, and I just don’t think they’re worth it anymore either. I struggled to afford a Sony the last time I got a TV, & I had too many problems with it. I was very glad I had a service contract on it !! At least when they finally couldn’t fix the same problem it had for over 3 years, they gave up & sent me a replacement check so I could buy this LG. However, when watching tv at night and watching a dark scene you can see the back led light in the corners effect the picture quality. For example, if your watching a night scene on the TV the corners that have bleeding will display black in a grey color and appear as if someone is shinning a light in that area. I went through 3 tv’s and they all had this problem but some were much wore than others i.e. bleeding in all corners). I also notice that all the tv’s exhibit a slight discoloration in the top center of the screen, it can be clearly seen when viewing a white background. It appears as a very faint black cloud/spot. I noticed it when watching movies with bright blue skies, the top center the sky looked a bit “cloudy” or dirty. When I switched to a solid white screen e.g. Google Maps) you can clearly see that affected area is slightly black. Once again I noticed this on ALL THREE 55LV3700′s I returned. Playing video games is ok, call of duty is extremely blurry because of running and quick motions. Madden is good. I noticed a bit of input lag. Clearly, CRT or plasma is the way to go for gaming without lag or blurring. Sound quality is decent. But don’t expect booming theater quality sound when watching movies. I highly recommend buying a Home Theater System. Side angle viewing on this TV is great. It has an IPS panel, so its very similar to a plasma with respect to watching tv at an angle. No color washout, brightness changes, etc. even sitting at 180 degrees. That all being said, unlike the Panasonic plasma this TV has accurate colors especially flesh tones)- i.e. no green push . I prefer the cinema mode on this TV which makes everything look smooth and real. The colors are very similar to what you would find in a Samsung – but with huge improvement in viewing angle because of the IPS panel. This TV does not have brightness pops that currently are effecting all Samsung and Panasonic plasma tvs. Moreover, this is no peeling of the screen or other manufacturer defects (buzzing) as witnessed in the Samsung plasma tvs. This would be a perfect TV if LG would fix the backlight bleeding and slight black spot in the upper center of the TV. The LG 47SL9000 LCD TV is equipped with LG’s Trumotion 100Hz motion control. Though the refresh rate is not as fast as 200Hz motion control technologies, it is still very effective in minimizing motion blur. Another feature that minimizes blurring is its 2 ms response time. Motion blur is not noticeable when watching fast moving objects on the screen.

Hooking up the TV to digital input sources is a straightforward affair, with four HDMI ports for all the video sources that you may have at your disposal. It can also accept analog inputs, with a VGA port and Component Video jacks. It also offers a digital audio output, where you could hook it up straight to your home theater system for better sound. It also offers other connections like a USB port, an Ethernet port, and an integrated Bluetooth connectivity. You could connect your phone wirelessly to the TV and start viewing pictures and listening to music from it. And if you want to watch a movie while not disturbing others, you could pair Bluetooth headphones to the TV.

The features and the design of the TV might be too good to be true, but there are some parts of it that are a bit flimsy. For one thing, its screen has a glossy finish, which is prone to reflecting strong lighting. It would best not to put this TV where it would result to glare, or you might have a hard time seeing your pictures. Its small size also comes with a price. With a very thin profile, it is impossible to fit better sounding speakers, so the sound quality is compromised.

LG television question by Daniel: LG 32cm Full High Definition Television. Flashing Red Light after shutting down wont power back up?
I have only bought a LG Full High Definition TV. Its only been in operation for around 3 hours and it suddenly turned off and wont start back up. Every time I turn it back on it powers up for about 10 seconds then turns off again. The monitor light keeps flashing red after its shut down.
Can anyone help me out? Please.
