Sharp tv question by : I have a sharp tv and a sony surround sound system but have a problem?
OK I can get the sound to come out of my surround system using its dvd and the picture to come out my tv. I am doing this with red whit and yellow wires but I can not seem to get my cable tv sound to come out of the surround sound please tell me why

Sharp tv best answer:

Answer by MelsRedMazda3
I think the cable box has a setting to output sound via rca. But you can connect the cable box to the tv, then run the rca from tv to the dvd receiver. if the dvd system doesnt have rca input connections than you can’t use it.

I am not a handyman. I was a-feared. Can I do it. I paid 1200 dollars for this TV. Am I going to destroy it? Luckly, instillation was easy. I installed two tv’s with this device and the sense of accomplishment still hasn’t left me. I am very proud of this purchase. I give this product three thumbs up. That means I had to borrow a thumb from my neighbor to write this review.

Excellent basic wall mount for big TVs, February 4, 2010

This review is from: Mi-Mount-it! 40 – 70 Inch Tilt Mount for Universal Plasma/LCD Flat Panel TVs, Model No.:MI-303L (Personal Computers)

I bought this to mount my Sharp AQUOS LC60E77UN 60-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Gold Bezel and it works a treat. I’ve posted a couple of product pictures. The kit included the screws needed to mount this TV. The TV has a flat back, so I didn’t need the included curve-compensating spacers.

The mount holds the TV about 2-3 inches from the wall, which is pretty good considering that it allows 30 degrees of tilt adjustment. The tilt adjustment is controlled with two tensioning knobs that are operated by reaching in from the sides. This is a little inconvenient on my Sharp, since the TV brackets are close to the middle, forcing me to reach waaaay in to turn the adjustment knobs. (IMO, this is Sharp’s fault.)

The only thing missing from this product is a fine leveling adjustment feature for use after the bracket is on the wall. As currently shipped, you have to get the lag bolts positioned just exactly right, or the wall bracket won’t be level, and the wall bracket determines the TV’s angle. (This is a question of millimeters, so it’s not the end of the world if you don’t get it perfect. But that’s the difference between 4 and 5 stars.)

If your wall is rough (I have paneling) it can be tricky to exactly position a drilled hole. I recommend you grab a small nail, like a finish nail or a picture-frame nail. Use the nail (and a hammer, if needed) to make an exactly positioned hole, then expand the hole with a small drill bit. Keep using increasingly larger bits until you have the size hole you need. This doesn’t take very long with a keyless chuck drill, and it lets you be as precise as possible. Be sure that you measure *and* use a level to establish positions for subsequent holes.

The wall bracket is very easy to mount to a wood stud wall. A drill and power driver make fast work of the four lag screws. For other types of walls, other solutions are included. NOTE however that the documentation says that concrete block walls and steel stud walls are not supported (concrete block walls would require molly bolts, I suspect).

Once the wall bracket is mounted to the wall, and the TV brackets are screwed to the TV, the two sets are paired up. I’m a big dude, but my TV was bigger, so this part required two people. You can probably “work ahead” if you need to, and just get a helper to put the TV up and get it centered, tilted right, etc.

After hooking the top of the TV brackets over the wall bracket, each TV bracket has a little retaining screw that is used to hook the bottom of the brackets in place (preventing the TV from being “unhooked” without unscrewing). If you drive these screws up far enough, they will also prevent the TV from sliding side to side.

Overall, the product feels solid. The product is definitely “low end” – there is no extra metal, no plastic boot to hide the metal works, etc. But it’s “basic” rather than “cheap.” The bracket is SOLID on the wall, and after tightening everything up, the TV feels really anchored.

For the price, I am very pleased with this product. Recommended.

One other problem that I encountered was with the location of the TV’s bracket holes. The Sharp bracket holes are not exactly centered top-to-bottom on the back of the TV. This affects where the axis of rotation will be located for tilting, and it also affect where the top (or bottom) of the TV will be with respect to the position of the wall bracket.

The TV brackets have several holes for attaching the brackets, so you should be able to compensate somewhat for the positioning of the bracket attachment points on your TV. But it behooves you to set up the brackets and *measure* the positions before you start the installation. Keep in mind that if you want to tilt the TV up or down, you will have to allow some extra space for the tilting. Don’t just allow exactly the size of the TV – you need a couple of inches of swinging space.

Good, simple, operational….one minor overcomable hitch., July 20, 2009

Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: Mi-Mount-it! 40 – 70 Inch Tilt Mount for Universal Plasma/LCD Flat Panel TVs, Model No.:MI-303L (Personal Computers)

I used this bracket to mount my Toshiba 55sv670u…a 121 lbs behemoth. the brackets are pretty easy to install and work really well. I was initially worried that I was going to have trouble finding three studs to mount to in the 34 or so inches the wall bracket provides, but I was able to mount quite securely.

The one and only thing that I ran into was that I sheared the heads off of the bolts when ratcheting them on. The lag bolts are crap. I went to the hardware store and spent on higher quality bolts and was very happy with it afterward. I can’t say this surprised me, that low grade bolt is pretty common among all these kits. My friend spent twice as much on his and had the same problem.

Once installed I tested it by hanging myself from it for 45 seconds (I weigh 280lbs) and the brackets did not bend nor budge. I was content that my TV would be safe hanging there.

I say to those people, you prob need to check what is imputing into the TV, because I see no sign of lag. Some complain about the color. This set has spectacular color right out of the box. I see no need to tweak the factory settings. I am particularly amazed by the depth the set produces. Some even complained that the TV has no light sensor. I don’t get that as not only does it have one, the default setting actually actively tells you each time it adjusts based on the room light. You can turn it off. Sharp tv question by Andy S: How to hook up cable with a Sharp Aquos TV?
I just recently got a brand new sharp aquos tv.

There was a mixup with the deliverer, and for some reason he cant hook up our cable with it, so we have no cable.

Can anyone tell me how to do this by myself?

I have a comcast tv box, if that helps

Sharp tv best answer:

Answer by gp4rts
What is important here is what kind of connections the Comcast TV box has. If it is an HDTV box (digital cable box), then it will have either component (3 cables, red/blue/green plus audio red/white) or HDMI (single cable, small rectangular plug). If it has HDMI, get an HDMI cable from

http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240

or other supplier and use that.

If it only has component connections, then get component cables (available at the same site) and audio cables and use that.

If the box is not an HD box, it should have an s-video output. Get and s-video cable (small round 4-pin connectors) plus the audio (red/white) cable.

Once you connect it, you will have to select the proper input for your TV via its input select function.

I purchased the TV mount for a 70″ Sharp LED TV, it fit perfect and came with a FREE 7′ HDMI cable and bubble level. Even the main back plate had a built in level to make sure it was level when bolting it to the wall. Very easy to install and heavy duty to handle a 70″ TV. Very happy with the quality and price, .99.

Looking at what BestBuy and Home Depot offer in terms of a wall mount, this price cannot be beat!

Very easy to install (if you know how to use tools that is). Its very sturdy. Absolutely love having my 46″ hung with cables running through the wall! Would recommend this mount to anyone.

To be sure, you need to give the model no. But if it is a recent purchase, it certainly does. If it has “built-in HD tuner” it is ready.

I’m blown away by my first HDTV! What can I say? Guess I already did…, November 28, 2011

Snagged this beautiful monstrosity on a Black Friday sale for 0 off (too good a deal to pass up on). I almost didn’t pull the trigger, but I’m so darned glad I did. From what I’ve seen of it so far in the approximately 4 days I’ve had it and one day I’ve played with it, I love it. As long as it doesn’t blow up or fall over, I’ll be a happy camper!

While I haven’t yet played a Blu-Ray with it, I’ve upconverted the bare Avatar DVD and piped it through the Sony BD player via HDMI, and unless you’re standing right up next to it, it looks absolutely fantastic. From the ~8-10 feet away my recliner’s situated, it just looks stunning. I’m sure Blu-Ray will look even better at native 1080p.

This TV isn’t for the faint of heart or for only one person to set up. It’s HEAVY. It’s at minimum a 2-person job getting it out of the box, assembling the base and positioning it on your entertainment center. Did I mention it’s heavy? Well, it’s 60″! What did I expect? ;)

I’m still fiddling with the controls to figure out what’s the best way to view movies and such. I’m thinking I may have to leave the ‘film’ mode off, as I think that might be the anti-juddering smoothing feature that tends to give a very ‘soap opera’ visual effect. Like it does TOO GOOD a job cleaning up the picture. Especially on CGI / animated videos, it makes the CGI look VERY computer generated and a little mechanical rather than fluid like it should be.

The unit comes with several pre-set display options you can flip through, some of them being standard, movie, etc. I assume they play with the brightness, contrast, color temperature. I think I’ve generally left mine on Standard or Film and just turned off the anti-juddering features and things look pretty normal.

The colors seem vibrant and Avatar was just completely beautiful on the big screen, even with the standard definition source DVD. I’ve seen a number of units in the stores where the colors seem washed out or faded (poor contrast). Ad far as I can tell, this unit seems to have excellent color gamut.

I’m fairly new to this, so YMMV.

I’ll just say that, so far, I’m impressed and don’t regret this purchase in the slightest. Only thing I worry about is whether my existing entertainment center is sturdy / stable enough to hold the thing. I might end up buying a new smaller entertainment center that’s lower to the ground and designed for the super huge screens, just to be safe. So far, it seem reasonably stable, though. & attaching the base wasn’t all the difficult once I got the unit out of the box, which was a bit of a chore as I was ill-advisedly doing so on my own. The actual moving/setup I got help with though. Anyway, attaching the base is just basically inserting a metal bracket into the base and attaching 10 screws, then sliding those brackets attached to the base into the bottom of the TV and screwing in 4 more screw. Done. Pretty painless.

It’s got, I think 4 HDMIs (3 back, 1 side), 2 Composites/RCAs (1 back, 1 side), one component (back) and one coaxial (back), I think. And there might be an audio out / digital audio out too, if I remember right (I’d have to look).

I think it usually takes about 5-10 seconds to warm up and come on?

Oh, and it doesn’t come with any built-in ‘apps,’ which is fine. I’ve got those via my Blu-Ray player, so it would probably be somewhat redundant anyway…

I haven’t yet figured out what OPC stands for (it keeps coming up at the bottom of the screen with a couple indicator icons next to it). I’m thinking it’s maybe adjusting picture quality on the fly or something? If so, I wonder if there’s a way to turn it off or at least turn off the indicator, as it can be a little distracting at times.

It seems to come with a fold-out setup / quick start guide, but no manual per se? That’s perhaps a little disappointing. I’d rather like to have something to refer back to once in a while and learn all the ins and out of the TV’s functions / menus. Though most of the functions can be accessed through the Menu button and are largely self-explanatory.

So, there’s my thoughts on the matter. I hope they’re helpful. Haven’t found any major drawbacks yet other than just the fact it’s just big and heavy… But, if you can get past that, and have a nice sturdy place to put it, so far I can’t see much to complain about. I’ll have to wait until I’ve played a BluRay through it to give a final word on the 1080p playback. But, the movies I’ve played through my new WiFi-enabled Blu-Ray player have been great to look at. Not sure whether they were HiDef or not, but I guess if I can’t tell the difference unless I’m standing only ~12 inches way from the screen, it doesn’t much matter does it? ;)

Nice, picture, but out of sync and with few options, January 4, 2012
By
David Buell (Baltimore, MD United States) – See all my reviews

This review is from: Sharp LC60E69U 60-inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV (Electronics)

I received this as a 30th birthday present and have been unfortunately greatly disappointed. I should start out by saying the set looks good if you spend a little time setting it up, but I still will be taking it back.

1) The menu is broken and continues to reset the video settings to ‘cool’ – thus tinting everything slightly blue. You need to manual switch this back to normal each time you change channels or change inputs.

2) There is no option to turn off the internal speakers if you have surround sound hooked up – and the on board speakers are poor.

3) The on by default Dynamic Contrast settings make dark objects on screen too dark to see and bright objects severely washed out. Turning it off leaves you with a decent contrast level though.

4) Most importantly – the set suffers from HORRIBLE video lag. This means the picture is somewhere between 1/10 and 1/4 of a second behind the audio. There is no ‘Game’ Mode like the higher budget versions of this pannel.

On the lag – this is present on cable, but is worse when using my game console or Blu-ray player. For standard tv/movies this means that the audio and video are distractingly out of sync. Lips are moving after someone stops talking. Noises happen before events on screen. It also makes most action based video games frustrating to the point of being unplayable as your controller inputs appear to be delayed by almost 1/4 second, meaning moving cursors, characters or aiming is sloppy and inaccurate.

I am very much hoping this set is defective and will update once I have gotten a replacement. I would absolutely reccomend against this set for any gamer (even Wii games are frustratingly out of sync), and only reccomend it if you are looking for a decent set to watch the occasional movie or tv show on and are not at all disturbed by out of sync audio.

Sharp Lcd Tv

Sharp lcd tv question by icyhotness17: what is wrong with my TV? I have a Sharp LCD tv (LC-15SH7U) and it will not turn on.?
When I push the power button the red light turns on for 3 seconds and then turns off and the TV does not turn on. What is wrong with my TV?

Sharp lcd tv best answer:

Answer by BABA BOOEY!!!
I just has a Samsung LCD that did the exact same thing. I took it to a repair shop and they estimated $ 400 – $ 500 to fix it. We sold it for way less than we paid (sold it for nearly nothing) and are buying a new one. I think these LCDs break down easily and aren’t worth buying an expensive one!

Hope yours isn’t the same problem but it sounds like it.

Does its job but slightly reduces resolution/clarity, November 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: 30-32 inch Anti-Glare TV-ProtectorTM Stylish TV Screen Protector for LCD, LED or Plasma TV (Electronics)

I was very satisfied with the packaging and the instructions for installation, and since I installed the screen protector, I am confident my new tv’s screen is safe from toddler hands and occasional flung objects. However, the anti-glare properties of this special glass, or perhaps its coating, have a couple of side effects. They do a great job of keeping glare to a minimum, however the clarity/resolution of the image seems to be slightly reduced. On the upside, the lines in the image become virtually impossible to discern, but on the downside, there is also a sort of fuzzy “prismatic” effect, for lack of a better term. On a very fine level, the light seems to refract into minute glistening specks in different colors of the rainbow.

I myself am slightly nearsighted, so in my rather small living room, with a viewing distance of perhaps 9 ft from the screen, I can watch without my glasses on, and then I don’t really notice the effect. Someone with 20/20 vision might find it more distracting. This effect is least noticeable if one’s head is absolutely still, but more prominent if one moves at all while watching.

Still, probably worth dealing with, if you have a definite need for protecting the screen– but if you have another option, like wall mounting at a height that makes the tv screen safer, then that may be a better bet.

Great product., July 4, 2011
This review is from: 30-32 inch Anti-Glare TV-ProtectorTM Stylish TV Screen Protector for LCD, LED or Plasma TV (Electronics)

Fits our 32 inch Samsung well and is hard to notice that is installed on the TV.

It simply attaches with Velcro to the frame and can be removed quite easy. The Velcro part that goes on the TV can be taken out from the frame without leaving any marks.

Installation literary took 10 minutes plus 5 minutes unpacking since the TV screen protector had several layers of protection that needed to be removed.

I do not think that this screen can reduce excessive glare which is mentioned in the description ut it works really well for a leaving or children’s room.

Since I got it several months back my sister got one for their leaving room 32 inch Sanyo. They also relax with the kids playing around

My review is solely based on how this item works with my computer. I did not attempt to use on my flat screen televison. I thought this would work for my 27″ IMac to reduce the glare but it pixelated the screen. The pixelation was so bad that it hurt my eyes. I contacted the computer and they agreed to refund my money. Great customer service but I had to pay for return shipping.

To clear up the 480i and 480p issue., January 22, 2009

Some people are reviewing that they can tell the difference between the standard A/V cable that comes with the Wii (Red/White for audio signal, yellow for video signal) and this component cable (same Red/White for audio signal, but three separate video signal cable)…

So I thought I’d explain quickly the different. With one loan video signal cable (stand Wii, out of the box) your highest attainable resolution is 480i. The “i” stands for interlaced. What it means is that the video signal is interlaced into odd and even number vertical lines. You TV displays the odd lines first from top to bottom, then on a second pass, displays the even numbered lines from top to bottom. Then the cycle continues to repeat, refreshing the lines odd, even, odd even and you see “motion.” All CRT TV (ones that have a Tube) the display is always interlaced video.

Now, in 480p, the “p” stands for progressive. In a progressive scan the entire image is refreshed top to bottom every pass. Today’s LCD and Plasma screens always display progressive video. Because it only takes one pass to complete the entire video image, progressive scanned video tends to have slightly higher refresh rates. In video gaming, this can translate to slightly better image quality and less lag between the controller and the results on the display.

So here is the kicker: for a CRT to accept an incoming progressive video, it has to translate it (internally) to interlaced video. This translation takes time, which in turn adds lag and can slow down the reaction time in gaming. Because of this, any Wii hooked up to a CRT (or Tube) TV should be set to 480i. EVEN if you use component cables.

For LCD and Plasma TVs, any interlaced video incoming to the TV must be translated to progressive video. Like the reverse for CRT TV’s this translation takes time and adds lag. The only way to get the Wii to send a direct progressive scan signal to a Plasma or LCD TV is to use a component video cable (2 audio connections, 3 video connections). But once this cable is attached, you must change the Wii options to send in 480p resolution. Once that has been done, you fancy flat display will not need to translate interlaced to progressive.

I’ve simplified this quick explanation. For the true tech geeks out there (like myself)… please accept that I have tried to put this in non-geek speak (best I could) without going into great detail.

I decided to give these cables a shot since they were half the price of the official Nintendo component cables, and audio/video cables are a product well-known for some companies (you listening, Monster?) seriously trying to rip off consumers. I found these cables to work wonderfully; despite some other opinions, I think they make a significant improvement in picture quality, well worth fifteen bucks if you have an HDTV to hook your Wii up to. When compared to the composite cables that come with the system, object edges are really sharpened up. You don’t need to pay – for quality component cables. Highly recommended!

I bought these cables due to them being cheapest at the time, and they work fine.

To those stating they can’t notice a performance difference, it’s true that the picture quality is almost the same. However, if you’re going to play your Wii on an HDTV, I would highly recommend component cables due to the fact that using the AV input on an HDTV requires it convert the incoming signal, which adds lag to the display. Not noticeable usually with something like a DVD player, but with games the added latency is very noticeable between your button press and the reaction of the HDTV. The difference between AV and Component lag was very noticeable in my experience (I tested this with Mario Galaxy on a ViewSonic 19″ HDTV).

Although, if lag is your biggest concern, best to just use an old crummy non-flatscreen TV, as they still have the quickest response times (even vs. component) in my experience.

Sharp tv question by Craig T: How do I use headphones with my TV (Sharp Aquos)?
How do I make it so the audio goes through the headphones, and not the speakers? I can find the headphone jack slot on the back of the TV, but when I plug it in, the sound just keeps coming through the speakers. I have a new 40 inch sharp aquos, and am using an HDMI cable to attach it to my cable box. Thanks for any help in advance.
